Salzburg Mountain Advent in the Grossarl Valley

Christmas in SalzburgerLand

Salzburg’s Mountain Advent in the Grossarl Valley is a popular destination for guests from all over the world. Craft stalls sell delicate nativity figurines and attractive objects made of glass, ceramic and straw, and visitors succumb to the enchanting fragrances of roasted almonds, baked apples and freshly-made mulled wine to the harmonious accompaniment of choirs and brass bands. Other Salzburg Mountain Advent special events in Grossarl include nativity plays, feeding the deer and carol singing in the parish church. Younger guests are also catered for: they can bake bread in the children’s bakery or post their Christmas lists at the Christmas post office. A visit to Salzburg’s Mountain Advent in the Grossarl Valley is a great experience for all the family.

During the run-up to Christmas, guests can enjoy a magical time with our Grossarl Mountain Advent package.

Salzburg Mountain Advent in the Grossarl Valley

27 November – 20 December 2020

Experience SalzburgerLand’s enchanting Christmas traditions and immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere of the beautifully decorated villages of Hüttschlag and Grossarl. Make sure you get to see the nativity scene exhibition in Grossarl held as part of Salzburg Mountain Advent in the Grossarl Valley. The members of the nativity scene committee started making these unique cribs in 2002, and each takes months to make by hand. Designs range from traditional to modern, and each crib is a unique work of art in itself! A nativity walk takes you from the Christmas market straight to the exhibition.
