Winter holidays in Großarl
Snowsure
The first snow of the season transforms the Großarltal Valley into a winter wonderland covered by millions upon billions of tiny flakes combining to form a thick blanket of the white stuff. While many guests who stay at the GROSSARLER HOF are drawn to the nearby ski slopes, there are plenty of alternative activities available such as snowshoeing and ski touring that give visitors the chance to swap the hustle and bustle of the pistes for the peace and quiet of the mountains. Horse-drawn carriage rides, visits to the local Christmas market and tobogganing are all firm family favourites.
Ski amadé unlimited
Großarl is part of Ski Amadé, Austria's largest ski network. From the GROSSARLER HOF it is just a short walk to the local cable car giving skiers and snowboarders direct access to a huge range of pistes suitable for all abilities. The other nearby ski resorts can be reached using the free ski bus.

Customs & traditions
Christmas is a special time of year in Großarl. Twinkling lights and flaming torches light up the night sky, with the scent of freshly roasted chestnuts and almonds filling the air. November and December are full of traditional events, including lots of activities aimed at children. Don't forget to visit one of the Christmas markets selling handicrafts, souvenirs and hot Glühwein.
Winter activity programme
We are a member of BERG-GESUND, a local association which organises sports and activities throughout the year. Guests staying at the GROSSARLER HOF can take part in these activities led by experienced guides free of charge.
