Johann is the GROSSARLER HOF’s administration manager and first point of contact for all matters relating to the restaurant. It comes as no surprise, therefore that ‘good food’ is one of his passions – as long as he doesn’t have to do the cooking himself!

Karoline Andexer GROSSARLER HOF

Karoline is the soul of the GROSSARLER HOF team, taking care of flower arrangements and the little details that add a finishing touch to the GROSSARLER HOF’s overall sense of luxury. She also looks after our guests in the restaurant and – whenever she has any spare time – you will find her walking in one of the meadows in the hotel’s surroundings.


Markus is highly energetic so spending all day at a desk simply wouldn’t do! You’ll spot him all over the hotel! Whether it’s in the restaurant, the wine cellar or at reception, nothing escapes his watchful eye – an attribute that also comes in handy off-duty, when he gets to observe the world from the tops of mountains.

Marianne Viehhauser GROSSARLER HOF

Marianne’s ‘thing’ is organisation, so she manages the housekeeping department as well as any matters relating to our beautiful Mooslehenalm Alpine lodge where comfort and cleanliness are her top priorities.

Lisa is always cheerful and concerned for our guests’ wellbeing! In the winter she is busy in the restaurant while in the summer you will find her hard at work at the Mooslehenalm.

A trained massage therapist, Sonja recognises problem areas straight away and soothingly restores fitness for the next hike or day on the slopes.

Thomas Klöckl

The Western Styria native has gained experience in Austria’s best houses over the past years of his cooking career and has already been awarded a toque several times by the gourmet guide Gault Millau. As an exceedingly nature-loving person, he finds inspiration for his exquisite dishes not least in the forest or while peacefully fishing on our rivers and lakes. An irrevocable attitude crystallised for him early on: He always strives to combine the best local products and traditional recipes into a modern and fresh symbiosis.
