Hike & Fly – freedom and adventure by design!
ot far from the Small Luxury Hotels of the World GROSSARLER HOF, mountain walkers can take to the skies on the ultimate mountain adventure. You can Hike & Fly on no fewer than four different mountains.
Walk up and fly down – that’s how simple Hike & Fly is. You pack an ultra-light paraglider in your rucksack and walk up to one of the Grossarl Valley’s grassy summits. Then enjoy the breathtaking views before taking off for a spectacular flight. A summer holiday in the Salzburger Land brings you within touching distance of the clouds, but you’ll be back on terra firma in no time at all.
Even in the early days of paragliding, many alpinists used gliders as a means of descent. Hike & Fly pilots and passengers want to have a great time, and take delight in both the ascent and the flight. This combination provides the best of both worlds. ‘Hike and Fly’ attracts a variety of participants. For extreme sports fans, it’s all about getting up there quickly and the adrenalin rush of flying back down, fitness enthusiasts want to push themselves, and ‘soul flyers’ simply want to be at one with nature. Hike & Fly caters for all of them.
The BergGesund Association in Grossarl in Salzburger Land organises regular guided Hike & Fly tours led by experienced paragliders.
You can start from four different mountains close to Grossarl, depending on the local wind and weather conditions: Bichlalm (1,731 m), Kreuzkogel (2,027 m), Aukopf (2,100 m) and possibly Hundeck (2,079 m) in Hüttschlag.
