Ski touring in SalzburgerLand tips

The Grossarl Valley’s largest and most famous mountain for Alpine skiers has to be the Kreuzkogel, the highpoint of the popular Grossarl-Dorfgastein ski area. A more peaceful off-piste time is offered by the famous Kreuzeck. At over 2,200m it’s a popular hotspot for ski touring in SalzburgerLand, alongside the Filzmooshörndl and the Loosbühel in the Grossarl Ellmau Valley. In late spring, you’re best to opt for the Gamskarkogel (2,467m), the Frauenkogel (2,424m), the Mandlkogel (2,442m) and the Keeskogel – the climax of this majestic valley at a towering 2,884m. Ski tourers and snowshoers find an ideal après-ski stop at the Loosbühelalm Hut in the Grossarl Ellmau Valley.
