As the last patches of snow melt away and the meadows become green once again, it's time to get ready for summer! In late spring local farmers drive cows, sheep and goats up onto the high pastures where they spend the summer grazing. Looking after them are shepherds who stay in the many wooden huts and are always happy to welcome visitors.

Farmers bring their cows down from the high pastures ready for winter and decorate them with flower-filled head-dresses as a sign of gratitude for a summer free of accidents and injuries. There are also lots of other events going on in the region during the autumn.
