Your Beautiful Chalet Style Hotel in Grossarl in the Region of Salzburg
Newly opened and already nominated in two categories at the World Hotel Awards 2010
The decision to build a beautiful new hotel in Grossarl has been a family affair. In 2008 the Viehhauser, Andexer and Draxler families put their heads together and decided that it was time for something new in the hospitality industry: a chalet style hotel that was both traditional yet stylish.

An elegant, chalet style hotel with just 50 rooms, a sophisticated spa, a beautiful restaurant and the finest wine cellar in the regio: these were the goals of the three families when the building work began in 2008. On the site of the popular “Unterbergerwirt” restaurant which was home to the “Bella Italia” Italian restaurant and the “Schluckerl” bar the challenge was to find enough space for a hotel that was to cater for a sophisticated clientèle.
The opening date was set for December 5th 2009 and with the demolition of the Unterbergerwirt restaurant in February 2009 it looked like a tight yet manageable build schedule. However, building work was beset by challenges, most notably in September 2009 when the already finished basement, underground car park and cellar flooded. With such a significant problem so late in the build no one believed that the project could be finished before the end of the year.
The architect and builder, together with locally contracted companies, agreed on a new finishing date of December 22nd 2009. This was an ambitious goal, which required the full commitment of all parties involved to realise the families' vision.

Thankfully the weather held and, although no one dared believe it, the first guests dined in the gorgeous Jagstuberl restaurant on December 22nd 2009!
After just a few days the Grossarler Hof was fully booked for the very first time.
Since then the Grossarler Hof has gone from strength to strength and has been described as the latest star in the sky of Salzburg tourism. The beautiful hotel in the region of Salzburg has even been nominated in two categories at the World Hotel Awards 2010:
